Give praise where it is due ... the people behind the Porchland developments do know how to throw a good party, writes Dave Buckley.
I’ve attended two of their Grand Openings and one “thank you”celebration and each has been a winner in terms of good food, drink and entertainment.
The latest Grand Opening, held a week before Christmas, was for the high-rise La Santir project – their fifth – which is right next door to their second development known simply as Porchland II just off Chaiyapruk Road in Jomtien.
La Santir will be 29-storeys high and will contain 523 units. After visiting the show units and seeing just how good they look it’s difficult to understand how the developers can achieve the low starting price of a little less than Bt1m – and that’s with a lot of built-in features that many would regard as extras.

Value for money
But they have managed to stay just the right side of the magical Bt1m mark and the value for money that La Santir represents seemed to attract a lot of interest from guests at the Grand Opening.
Headlining the evening was the appearance of actress Yardthip Rachapal, who, according to FHM magazine, was the “Sexiest Drama Star in Thailand” for 2011.
She appeared with models in a well choreographed fashion show. Guests were also entertained by music from a top group and a dazzling firework display.
I look forward to the “thank you” party when La Santir is fully sold out. If sales in the first four projects are anything to judge by it shouldn’t be too far away. Ω
