The founder and president of the Thai Appraisal Foundation has announced that his organisation is planning to conduct a survey of the property market in Pattaya and the surrounding areas very soon.
The president, Dr Sopon Pornchokchai, spoke of his intentions at the April meeting of the Real Estate Broker Association – Eastern Seaboard (REBA-ES) where he received an honorary membership.
He told the meeting: “You have a very big resort market here, second only to Phuket so the time is right for us to at the foundation to carry out a survey.”
He added that he would be very open to the idea of REBA-ES co-hosting the presentation of the survey’s findings when the time was appropriate.
Dr Sopon was one of two people to receive honors at the meeting. The other – honorary chairmanship of REBA-ES – went to Khun Paisan Bundityanond, the founder and honorary president of REBA in Thailand.
Khun Paisan who runs the Rabbit Resort at Jomtien with his wife Deborah is no longer directly involved in real estate brokerage. But he brings a wealth of experience to the association.
He told the meeting: “I congratulate you on successfully joining REBA but now you have a long journey ahead of you. It’s a journey that will never end.
“Real Estate has its ups and downs but the key to success is to be able to survive. I believe you have chosen the right place to conduct business in Pattaya. Pattaya is one of the great places to be.
“I believe buyers are starting to come back and it is great time here for them. We, my wife and I, are now in the mood to buy.”
He went on to reflect that it was “unfortunate” that real estate in Thailand is not regulated.
“Some people setting up in real estate have no idea of how to do business in an ethical way.” He hoped that a stable government would be able to revisit the idea of introducing regulation. Ω
