Relocating doesn’t have to be a difficult experience

When David was advised that his new assignment was to be on Thailand’s Eastern Seaboard he heard that he might be living in Pattaya. His wife Penny was already making plans. She went onto the internet to research her new environment but unfortunately, what she found about Pattaya was not very comforting. With three children of school age, she needed advice and didn’t know who to turn to…
David and Penny’s story is not unusual. The services of a good relocation company can help make the transition smoother. But, in Thailand, the International relocations companies are mainly based in Bangkok.
Their staff don’t know the Eastern Seaboard and many of them also have a poor impression of Pattaya due to their lack of knowledge about the area. This is not helpful to a new family who need to have their questions answered and worries resolved.
Some real estate companies talk about their relocation experience but don’t have an in-depth background in relocations or full settling-in assistance.

Gap in market
Benchmark Relocations is filling this slot on the Eastern Seaboard according to Benchmark’s MD, Gareth De Silva. He recognised there was a “gap” in the ESB market and earlier this year formed a working relationship with Mary Walsh (pictured) who has a background in corporate relocations.
Their package of relocation and settling in services far exceeds what any other company can provide, they contend.
Their success is based on a solid knowledge of expat family life on the Eastern Seaboard as well as a sound local knowledge.
Gareth said: “Benchmark invites corporate companies on the Eastern Seaboard, as well as individuals coming to work here, to contact us for a discussion on how our unique blend of settling in services can be of great benefit to new staff coming to work here.
“We understand that the most important thing is to have the employee on board in their new position as quickly as possible knowing that the rest of the family are settled, engaged and happy.

Our own experience
“Our confidence is backed by our own experience. We’ve been there ourselves; we know the pitfalls; our customers are happy too...”

TWO TESTIMONIALS

Benchmark are specialists in Real Estate Sales and Rentals for the Eastern Seaboard with a comprehensive portfolio of Property listings. During our recent preview trip to the Eastern Seaboard, we spent four days with Mary Walsh from Benchmark Relocation. After contacting Benchmark I received a reply immediately and started feeling much more relaxed... I knew that I had a “friend”
During that time she managed not only to show us the schools, houses, hospitals, supermarkets, etc but did so and answered every question (and believe me I had hundreds!) with patience and a full knowledge of the area and expat life there. Our decisions and planning can now be made with full knowledge of the area and the daily life of Expats and all of this is thanks to our very patient and wonderful destination consultant, Mary Walsh.

When I recently needed to find new accommodation in Pattaya I found the progress to be slow and frustrating. The agents I spoke to didn’t really listen to what I wanted and in the end we wasted valuable time. I work long hours and my wife is pregnant. Our viewing time was limited to after hours and weekends. I was disappointed to hear one leading agent tell me that he didn’t work after 5pm.
I was introduced by a friend to Benchmark. The next evening – at 6pm – their relocations manager had me viewing a few apartments and very quickly my decision was finalised. Their professional and courteous approach was much appreciated by us. Benchmark seem to understand what the working expat is looking for and from the beginning we were speaking the same language. Thank you Benchmark.”
