If the definition of Movers & Shakers is people who get things done then the double event held last Friday (September 25) certainly lived up to its name.
The day had two elements – a golf tournament at the Navy’s excellent Plutaluang course followed by a Lighthouse Club Sundowner at The Village shopping centre to the south of the city where Soi Chaiyapruk meets the Sukhumvit Road.
Special thanks go to staff at both establishments for helping make it a great day.
The golf teed off at noon in a shotgun start to ensure everyone finished in good time to move on to The Village. It was played in the Texas Scramble format to keep the play flowing smoothly.
After showering and a swift drink it was on to The Village where golfers, Lighthouse Club members and guests gathered for free food and beverages at a meeting quite different from the normal Lighthouse function.
What made the difference? Well, the superb setting for a start. The Village is a delight at any time but especially so after the sun goes down and the lights come on.
Add to that the swimwear fashion show provided by the combined efforts of Phuket Mermaids and EM Modelling of Bangkok and you start to get an idea that this was no ordinary evening.
Music was provided by the delightful and talented ladies from Princess Music and DJ Thaicoen. Chris Lock brought a few classic cars along to display.
The weather was good to the golfers but was not so kind in the evening. Heavy rain put something of a dampener on proceedings but there was no shortage of food and drink to help keep people’s spirits up.
It is estimated close to 400 people attended the evening function with well in excess of Bt100,000 being raised for the Lighthouse Club charity.

Many other sponsors (listed overleaf) chipped in with cash, vouchers or goods to form prizes both for the golf and the raffle.
