Over recent issues we have been keen to highlight initiatives being taken by the city’s agents in a bid to stimulate sales, writes John Davids.
This month sees a new twist in the shape of a cashback offer from Delight Real Estate which can be found on the hill in Thrappraya Road.
The agency, headed by Anne-Marie (right), has decided to offer their customers two per cent cashback once a sale is completed and they have received their fee.
“We know the economic climate for our customers is not good,” said Anne-Marie. “So this is our way of saying ‘thank you’ and offering to help them in a practical way.”
Delight are keen to make it clear that their offer is open only to single-agency deals.

co-operate on a sale and share the commission. “If we were to offer two per cent back and share commission with another agent that would leave us with next to nothing as a fee,” said Anne-Marie. “I’m sure customers will understand.”
So the offer assumes that Delight are the sole agents involved and that the money will be paid back to the buyer once they have received their commission on the sale.
“Any and every customer is welcome. We are keeping the offer open until the end of March,” said Anne-Marie, “but, provided the initial deposit has been paid before that date, completion of the sale can take place a little later.”
The offer relates only to sales – not rentals – and is something of a ground-breaker in our experience. We have heard of agents agreeing to slightly lower their commission to help cement an individual sale. But this is the first time we have heard of an agency “going public” with such an offer on everything and anything they sell.
“Of course we have given a lot of thought to making this offer,” said Anne-Marie. “It has not been a decision taken lightly. We are in business to make a profit and this is our way of getting things moving.
“We are doing this to promote Delight in the eyes of the buying public – not to do a disservice to other agents. We are simply doing what we think is best for us.”
