Park Lane may be the second most expensive property in the original UK version of the Monopoly board game but the Jomtien version is almost the opposite, writes John Davids.
There the fourth phase of the Iguana development has just been released and, with prices starting at just Bt1.?m for a one-bedroom unit, you can see why comparisons with London’s Park Lane – on price, at least – should stop there.
That’s not to say that Park Lane does not have quality features. Far from it – they will be there for all to see.
Giant pool
Most notable among them will be the giant pool that surrounds a restaurant and gym. Work on the pool was due to start as this issue went to press.

Iguana asked potential buyers what they were seeking from their “ideal” apartment.
Based on the answers the company decided to develop units where affordability could be achieved without sacrificing the features people want.
Fully furnished
For example, many survey respondents indicated that they preferred having a separate bedroom. Not easy to achieve within an area of 36 sqm but Iguana have pulled it off by making every millimetre count. The bathroom still manages to be spacious and there is even room for a balcony to each apartment which all come fully furnished within the price.
Yes, everything a couple could want is included in a single unit and, of course, it is very easy to put two units together for those who need more space. This option provides a 36 sqm living area with a bedroom and bathroom to each side of it.
The four buildings of Park Lane, when completed, will form a courtyard. The space within will be transformed into a lush tropical landscaped garden with a beautiful lagoon pool. It will be safe and carefree, ideal for all seeking an escape from the hubbub of city life.
Two Jacuzzis, a children’s pool and play area are also planned for the resort which can be found off Wat Bunkanchanaram Road that links Jomtien Beach to the Sukhumvit.
Unbeatable value
Iguana managing director Miki Haim said: “Our Jomtien project at Park Lane offers unbeatable value. We have listened to what people want and have provided it there. Where else can you find a one-bedroom apartment for this kind of money?
“I’m delighted with the progress we have made since construction work started nine months ago. The shells of the first two buildings are now complete and work has started on the third block. The last phase has been released and I believe it may never be possible to find this sort of value again once the local economy picks up, as I’m sure it will.” Ω
